Sashiko Coaster
Dinner will be a pasta dinner
$35 per evening includes dinner, water and tea, project kit, and instructions. Wine sold on separately.
Sashiko is a form of decorative reinforcement stitching from Japan. Traditional sashiko was used to reinforce points of wear, or to repair worn places or tears with patches. Today this running stitch technique is often used for purely decorative purposes in quilting and embroidery. We will learn the basics of Sashiko and create a Sashiko Coaster.
A collaboration between the Virginia Quilt Museum and Patchwork Plus Evening Escapes offers you the chance to create a small hand project while enjoying dinner and the company of other stitchers in the lovely atmosphere of the Virginia Quilt Museum at the historic Silver Lake Mill. Each month will feature a different hand stitching technique ranging from English Paper Piecing to different embroidery stitches. Dinner provided by the Dayton Tavern and wine will be available for sale from Bluestone Vineyard. Dietary restrictions can be accommodated with advance notice, please list your dietary needs when registering.
A quilt from the VQM collection relating to that month’s topic will be shared with participants each month. Participants are encouraged to bring a project for show and tell related to each month's theme.
The registration fee includes all of the supplies for that month's craft, dinner, water and tea. Wine will be sold separately on site.
