In this class we will explore how your orphan blocks can serve as the basis for an interesting and unique quilt design. We will discuss how layout options, color choices, and even other orphan blocks from different projects can be combined to create a visually stunning quilt top.
Karen Middleton is a fiber artist, quilter, and educator based in Richmond, Virginia. A U.S. Army veteran, she holds a B.A. in Anthropology from the University of Maryland and an M.S. in Textiles from North Carolina State University. She is pursuing an MFA in Studio Art at the Maryland Institute College of Art.
Her work has been exhibited nationally, including at The Delaplaine Arts Center in Frederick, MD, the Maria V. Howard Center at the Imperial Centre in Rocky Mount, NC, Joseph Gross Gallery at the University of Arizona in Tucson, AZ, theBLANC Gallery, New York City, NY, and the National Veterans Creative Arts Competition, sponsored by the Department of Veterans Affairs.
